* Massages *

Therapeutic
A combination of deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point work, various movement therapies or passive-resistive stretching techniques. This combination of techniques is used not only to relax your whole body but at the same time, work through some of the muscle issues or “tight spots” you may be experiencing.

Remedial
Promotes and improves flexibility, reduces swelling, improves athletic performance and enhances recovery.

Sports
Stretching tight muscles, stimulating inactive muscles and improving the condition of the soft tissue, specifically tailored to different sports and sporting injuries.

Deep Tissue
Applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles), to treat specific problems or conditions, chronic aches, pains and contracted areas.

Applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles), to treat specific problems or conditions, chronic aches, pains and contracted areas.

Chair
Designed for the client to rest forward slightly, with their arms and legs supported.

Relaxation
Long smooth gliding stokes that are both rhythmic, flowing, deeply relaxing pressure. A non-painful treatment designed to relax and soothe you, but not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying conditions.

Pregnancy
Helps you cope with the changes to your body that occur during pregnancy, with or without the use of the pregnancy pillow. By using principles based on Swedish massage techniques, to reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow as well as some lymphatic drainage.

Hot Stone (winter only)
Heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body, as Swedish massage techniques are used to relax & ease tense muscles, as well as damaged soft tissues throughout your body.

* Soft Tissue Therapies *

Dry Needling Therapy
A soft tissue treatment technique where the needle is inserted into myofascial trigger points (knots) in the muscle to assist with reducing pain, as well as restoring & improving function. Where muscle fibres have shortened & contracted when activated, but have not been able to lengthen back to a relaxed state after use, dry needling releases the muscle's ability to lengthen and shorten normally.

Cupping - Myofascial
Helps boost immune function and speed up healing time, commonly used inconjunction with massage therapy, essential oils, acupuncture or even as an adjunct to “Western Medicine” treatments.

Kinesio Taping
Kinesio taping is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process. Providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits.

What do I wear ?

Anything comfortable.

You shall only be asked to remove clothing in the areas being massaged; underwear items shall ALWAYS remain ON.

Should I drink lots of water ?

Some people will drink lots of water to combat the dehydration feeling post massage.

Just remember that you shall be laying on your stomach for a period of time, & this may make you feel uncomfortable during your session.

What do I do in a massage session?

Throughout the session you may be given simple instructions or your therapist may move a limb into a different position. But the main aim during a massage session is to let the massage therapist do all the work and for the client to relax.

During the session, you are welcome to chat, ask questions and or even go to sleep - whatever you prefer, to ensure you are comfortable and relaxed during the experience.

Does Dry Needling hurt?

It is common that clients may feel a mild pinch or prick. Which over time is generally followed by a heavy, tingling, vibrating, or numbness around the needled area or radiating to other referring areas.

But generally due to the small size of the needles, treatments rarely cause any discomfort.

Throughout the session, we do our best to ensure you are comfortable and relaxed to the best of our ability.

What can I expect after my session ?

Each person & their experience is unique.

You may feel extremely relaxed and rejuvenated initially; & it is also normal to feel an increase in energy later on.

Depending on the reason for receiving massage therapy, some people are relieved of muscle aches and pains, reduced muscle tension and increased range of motion.

You may also feel as though you feel lighter, are standing taller, have more energy and or feel more productive.
However some people shall feel heavier, tired, sleepy, lethargic & tender.

What should I DO after my massage ?

1 Drink plenty of water
- to rehydrate & flush once stagnant waste products (toxins, metabolic waste & lactic acids)

2 Go for a bit of a walk
- to help settle everything down, especially lower backs
- keep things moving - gently - includes stretching

3 Icing / Cooling
- assists healing process as well as pain reduction
- wrap ice pack in towel before applying to area to avoid 'ice burn'

4 Compression
- to assist your bodys natural lymphatic system to remove once stagnant waste products (toxins, metabolic waste & lactic acids)

5 Take it easy
- the 'good' blood & oxygen now easily flowing through your body - along with the once stagnant waste products (toxins, metabolic waste & lactic acids)
- all of these combined may make you feel tired, sleepy & drowsy

What should I AVOID after my massage ?

1 Alcohol
- will only further de-rehydrate you

2 Staying still
- your muscles may cease up & actual be more tender

3 Heating
- an injured area produces its own form of heat
- massage introduces heat
- by adding heat to an area post massage, may prolong recovery

4 Hot bath or shower
- massages decrease our blood pressure (relaxation)
- combined with waste materials (toxins, metabolic waste & lactic acids) flowing through the body
- hot & humid environments can further decrease blood pressure levels
- increasing individuals potential of fainting
- no need to ice bath, but something more tepid / cooler that you would normally have is recommended

4 Being too active
- will not allow your body sufficient time to recover
- as you shall be tender afterwards

What should I EXPECT after my massage ?

1 Urine
- more frequently
- as well as pungent (smelly) & colored (tea colored)
- are your bodys waste products (toxins / metabolic waste / lactic acids) being flushed out of your body

2 Tired / Sleepy / Drowsy / Lethargic
- caused by all of your bodys rejuvenated blood & oxygen flow
- combined with its once stagnant waste materials

3 Tenderness / Bruising
- some tenderness is normal & expected
- people on certain medications may also experience bruising
- icing is recommended to assist healing & reduce bruising
